AOT Support for Tricore's Proprietary ISA

I am trying to execute AOT on a Tricore based microcontroller. Unfortunately, Tricore's Proprietary ISA is not supported by wamrc compiler.

wamrc compiler and WAMR must support AOT for Tricore CPU Instruction.

Is it possible that we link a 3rd party compiler with wamrc to convert .wasm into Tricore specific CPU instruction set .aot file?

Is the 3rd-party compiler based on the LLVM project? To use the 3rd-party LLC + ASM compiler, you can refer to this document for how it is done; it should be similar to your case.

We are checking the 3rd party compiler for compatibility with LLVM project.

In the worst case, if it is not compatible, what are the other options that you would suggest?

Then the effort would be much greater, you wouldn't benefit much from the existing WAMR compiler, basically, you need to write your own version of a compiler that maps the WASM instruction to whatever IR your compiler is using

In this case, does wamrc also provide the .aot file with the "object code" created by the 3rd party compiler and the metadata that is usually part of the .aot file ( for.eg: magic_number..etc )?

Yes, if your 3rd-party compiler is based on the LLVM project, the WAMR compiler can compile WASM to LLVM IR as usual, then the LLVM Module is sent to your compiler to compile to native code, convert along with other metadata to a normal AOT format that the WAMR runtime can load and run.

Let us assume that I have a "converter" which converts .wasm file to an IR, which the 3rd party compiler can compiler further to the native code.
In this case, does wamrc also provide a method, to create the .aot file with the native code + metadata?

Still will need some effort(and it wouldn't be easy), I would say the existing wamrc function can't be directly used since the current metadata creation is heavily relying on the LLVM C API(e.g. extract target info, relocation handling).
